This
week saw the appointment of the Project Managers to
co-ordinate all groups involved in the restoration of
the cathedral over the next few years. They are Dublin-based
group Interactive Project Managers
led by architect Joan O’Connor, along with fellow
director Niall Meagher and Eileen Dolan. They have previously
worked as Project Managers on public building projects
such as Cork Courthouse, the Millennium Wing of the
National Gallery of Ireland, and the Assay Office in
the heart of Dublin Castle.
They
define their general philosophy as they approach projects
as follows:
“Our
objective, as Project Managers, is to facilitate the
interaction between the client, the planning authority,
the architect, the design team and the contractor in
a constructive, open and collaborative manner so that
the project objectives are clearly established and the
building achieves these objectives within agreed considerations
of quality, cost and time.
We believe
in defining clear roles and responsibilities for all
project team members: we do not supplant the role of
any team member but support them in the discharge of
their duties by establishing, at an early stage, a common
language and standard operating procedures.”
